Unidentified gunmen fired at a car of the Japanese consulate in the Pakistani port city of Karachi on Thursday, injuring two Pakistani employees of the diplomatic mission, the city police chief said.
Karachi police chief Fayyaz Leghari said no foreign national was in the car when it was attacked.
An administrative officer of the consulate and a guard were injured in the firing, police said.
The gunmen fled after the attack.
Leghari said the attackers might have been trying to steal the car.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
